In Utah’s terrain clay is found almost everywhere. When it is saturated it acts like Grandma’s famous green Jell-O.
Paving on squishy Jell-O like clay with 1″ or 2″ of rock is as bad an idea as making tuna salad and using Miracle Whip, it’s so wrong.
So what is right? Well…“It’s all about the base!” On a 3″ new pave we will compact 6″ inches of road base (2/1 ratio) creating a strong and stable foundation.
